5 Habits of Highly Successful Mom Entrepreneurs
Feb 10, 2025
Have you ever read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People? It’s been around forever, and I read it a long time ago, but today, I want to talk about something a little different—five habits I see my most successful clients using every single day as they build their businesses. These aren’t just theories. These are the habits that are actually working for real moms running real businesses. So, take what works for you, leave the rest, and let’s dive in.
1. Daily Prioritization: Stop Winging It
I get it—structure isn’t always fun. I used to go with the flow in my business, but that worked until it didn’t. Now, I use daily prioritization to create more ease, and my most successful clients do the same.
Here’s what that looks like for me:
- Mondays: CEO day—no client calls, just focusing on my business.
- Tuesdays & Wednesdays: Mentorship days—client calls, partnerships, and supporting my community.
- Thursdays: Podcast day—recording, batching, and getting content out.
- Fridays: My day—horseback riding, catching up on life, and overflow work if I feel like it.
When you know what needs to happen when, you stop scrambling and start making intentional progress. So, where are you spending most of your time? How can you bucket it in a way that works for you?
2. Unshakable Boundaries
My most successful clients? They have un-fck-withable* boundaries. Period. Boundaries around their time, their clients, their finances, their families.
And let’s be real—most business problems? They’re actually boundary problems. If you feel like you “never have enough time,” is it really a time issue, or are you saying yes to things you shouldn’t?
Setting boundaries isn’t about pushing people away; it’s about showing people how to work with you best. If you need help with this, I have a boundaries guide (linked in the show notes) that gives you scripts and recommendations to start protecting your energy today.
3. Saying No—And Actually Meaning It
No is a full sentence. Read that again.
The most successful mom entrepreneurs? They don’t say yes to things they want to say no to. Period.
I’ve been there—I’ve said yes when I wanted to say no, and never have I looked back and thought, “Wow, I’m so glad I did that.” Trust your no. Protect your time and energy. If something doesn’t align, you don’t have to justify why you’re saying no. Just don’t do it.
4. Always Learning, Always Growing
Successful entrepreneurs know they don’t have all the answers—and they don’t let their ego get in the way of learning. They:
- Listen to podcasts (you’re already doing this—high five!)
- Read books (hello, library card!)
- Invest in mentorship, courses, and coaching when it makes sense
- Surround themselves with people who challenge them to level up
Even the best athletes in the world have coaches. Why wouldn’t business owners do the same? You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to learn and stay open to growth.
5. Growing Their Network—On Purpose
Years ago, a mentor told me, your network is your net worth. At the time, I didn’t get it. Now? I live it.
Your network doesn’t mean you have to go to every networking event ever. If you’re in a season where leaving the house feels impossible, find ways to connect online. Join communities (like This Mother Means Business). Show up in spaces where people are doing what you’re doing. Because I promise you, you do need people. The most successful entrepreneurs aren’t trying to do it alone.
